Advances in Diagnostic Imaging

Neuroendocrine tumours are a large group of rare tumours sharing common pathological and biological characteristics. The role of imaging has gained importance during the last decades, not only to diagnose tumours responsible for particular syndromes but also to select patients for the most appropriate therapies and monitor the diseases during their course. Surgical and medical therapies are guided with imaging in order to give the best chance of treatment to patients. Moreover, imaging guides radiopharmaceutical therapy, interventional radiology, and radiation oncology treatments. This chapter illustrates the different imaging modalities and their applications in different disease entities. Image examples guide the reader through the comprehension of the various imaging applications in neuroendocrine tumours.
