abstract:
In this article, we provide a brief overview of the organization of the bilingual brain. We start by providing a glimpse on how language components such as phonology, grammar, and lexico-semantics are represented in the bilingual brain. We then proceed by illustrating how these components are controlled (i.e., language control). This is followed by a section in which we illustrate recent findings about the relationship between second language processing and decision-making. Finally, we conclude with a section in which we outline the effects of the continuous use of two languages upon healthy aging and dementia prevention.
