An essay in applied social ontology, trying to unravel the enigma of social pressure on the individual moral consciousness, and the self-dismissal of the latter, issuing in forms of political conformism potentially beyond the boundaries of ethics and public ethics. Introducing an analysis of two ways of being together – “belonging-to” and “face to-face” and developing a theory to the effect that dissociation of politics from ethics increases proportionally to reduction of the “face-to-face” sphere of social interactions to the advantage of the “belonging-to” one.
