Pensieri e rappresentazioni: Frege e il cognitivismo contemporaneo

The main aim of this work is to assess whether Frege’s anti-psychologistic arguments against the identification of thoughts with mental representations can still be endorsed and in the positive case in which form. The book’s main thesis is that the difficulties in Frege’s account arise out of his Platonist conception of thoughts which keeps thoughts out of touch from both the mind and the world. The attempt to put forward an alternative picture of the metaphysics of thoughts which does not isolate them in a third realm but which recognizes their constitutive dependence with the other “two realms” is the book’s main goal.
