Complete rectal prolapse (CRP) is defined as a circumferential, full-thickness intussusception
of all layers of the rectal wall beyond the anal verge. It has an estimated
incidence of 2.5 per 100,000 inhabitants, with a peak after the fifth decade of life and a
female-to-male ratio of 10:1
