He earned his degree in Milan University in 1983 on November 10th .
Specialist in Anesthesia and Intensive Care in 1986 on July 8th .
Clinical activity at San Raffaele Hospital, Milan since 1986.
Assistant Professor of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care at Vita-Salute University of Milan since 2001.
Attended the following international centres: Queen Charlotte Hospital, London; Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau, Barcelona; Monaco Cardiothoracic Center.
Author of more than 580 papers in indexed international journals (Hindex 74) including randomized trials in NEJM, JAMA, Circulation and British Medical Journal and 44 books or books chapters. Cited >26,900 times in journals.

Advanced circulatory and ventilatory support (ECMO, VAD, artificial heart); Treatment of advanced cardiac failure: Cardiac and renal protection in the critically ill; Cardiac and renal biomarkers; Non-invasive ventilation; Intra and extra Hospital emergencies; Meta-analyses in cardiovascular and perioperative medicine.
