ABATI SILVIO

Prof. Silvio Abati, MD, DMD completed his training in the fields of oral medicine and pathology with postgraduate courses and study periods in the United States, the United Kingdom and France.
He developed and oriented his clinical and academic practice in the fields of stomatology, oral medicine and oral pathology and clinical hospital dentistry: the scientific, didactic and clinical activities of Prof. Silvio Abati are the prevention, the diagnosis and the treatment of infectious, inflammatory, immunopathological and benign and malignant neoplastic diseases of the mouth mucosa, tongue, jaw bones, salivary glands, including the symptoms and the alterations in oral and general health and wealth that they cause.
Silvio Abati performs scientific research in the areas of oral medicine, oral pathology and the epidemiology of oral diseases. The research topics in which he carried out his scientific activities in the llast decades were xerostomia and dry mouth, oral disorders in the elderly; the early recognition, diagnosis and treatment of premalignant and malignant oral diseases; oral complications and oral health in cancer patients; the role of oral microbes and oral diseases in the pathogenesis of adverse pregnancy outcomes and their prevention; oral prevention in oncology; the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of bad breath. Prof. Silvio Abati held hundreds of scientific communications, conferences and courses by invitation in Italy and abroad on subjects of oral pathology and medicine, oral oncology, periodontology, oral epidemiology and oral prevention. He authored of over 200 scientific papers and publications in the national and international journal and books and received national and international prizes and awards for his scientific work.
