Razumna strpnost in modus vivendi

This article focuses on two notions, namely, toleration and reasonableness, as paving the way toward a modus vivendi as a sort of more-than-merely tolerant cohabitation. The core idea is that reasonableness qualifies toleration when conflicts of values are at stake. Such conflicts are not conciliable, hence a political agreement cannot be found on a moral consensus, as it is traditionally required by a liberal political society. What can be reached is a political arrangement in which people find a way of coexistence as a modus vivendi. Modus vivendi is the proper way to cohabit efficaciously with others, despite their conflicting views.
