Abstract:
This essay examines the thought of Democritus of Abdera, rereading it in
political philosophical key. The same doctrine of the atoms and the void is
interpreted as the foundation for a politics that can be considered overall as a
democratic communitarianism. The just and well governed polis remains the
focus of the reflections of Democritus.
