Abstract:
This article briefly summarises data published over the last decade which have investigated the concept that intravesical instillation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate is able to restore the GAG layer and provide a beneficial effect in protecting the bladder. In the second half of this article, pre-clinical studies which assess the effectiveness of intravesical instillation of Ialuril (R) after chemical or electromechanical damage to the rat bladder wall are described.
