Abstract:
We found sex to be associated with important differences in histologic subtype at diagnosis of urethral cancer. Specifically, female subjects were at a disadvantage because more of them harbored nonurothelial histologic subtype. Moreover, at diagnosis, female subjects harbored more advanced stage disease than male subjects. In nonmetastatic urethral cancer, female subjects exhibited higher cancer-specific mortality relative to male subjects, even after matching for patient and tumor characteristics.
