RANCOITA PAOLA MARIA VITTORIA

Since 2022, Prof. Rancoita is Associate Professor in Medical Statistics MED/01, at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, UniSR), and involved in the research activities at CUSSB (University Centre for Statistics for the Biomedical Sciences, UniSR), collaborating in many national and international projects. Since 2016, she is member of the Governing council of CUSSB and she is member of the Scientific Board of the CeNRI (Center for Nursing Research and Innovation, UniSR). In 2022, she has been invited to be a statistical consultant for the World Health Organization for the project on the determination of Pretomanid ECOFF for MGIT method. In 2018-2021, she was member of the Governing council (as Treasurer) of the Italian Region of the International Biometric Society.
The research activity of Prof. Rancoita regards the development and the application of statistical methods in biostatistics and bioinformatics, such as: for the analysis of survival data and for the identification of prognostic indices, for the analysis of longitudinal data, for the treatment of missing data, for the analysis and the integration of genomic data, in stochastic geometry with applications to the analysis of images of angiogenesis.
In 2006, she received the MS in Mathematics for Applications at University of Milan. From 2006 to 2010, she had a four-year PhD scholarship at the research centers IDSIA (Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Switzerland)/IOSI (Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland, Switzerland) on the project: “A Bayesian Approach for Integrated Cancer Genome Profiling”. In 2010, she received the PhD in Mathematics and Statistics for Computational Sciences at University of Milan. In 2010-2011, she got a postdoctoral contract at IDSIA/IOSI, then in 2012-2013 she was a research fellow in Statistics SECS-S/01 at UniSR. From 2014 to 2019, she was Assistant Professor in Medical Statistics MED/01 (RTDa and RTDb) at UniSR.
